An Integrated Curriculum and Evaluation process

Lifelong learning is the cornerstone of all the academic planning and activities at Heritage International School, Aligarh. Teaching, learning and assessment are all intertwined and focus on learning in various settings, in and outside the classrooms. At Heritage, there is a strong belief that learning takes place best when the learner discovers facts and ideas rather than being taught. This being the information era, and the highway to a revolution of knowledge is self–learning. To this end a lot of emphases is placed on enquiry training across all stages in the school as well as across the curriculum. Our evaluation system is also broad-based. We understand that examinations are not the only way to assess a student. Formative assessment is the norm. Assignments, projects, worksheets, presentations, collaborative activities, unit tests and end-of-term exams are the tools through which the performance of a student is analyzed. We at HIS continuously strive to experiment and innovate to provide a better learning environment. E-Learning is an integral part of the Heritage International curriculum. Access to Virtual School Portals, on-line & off-line encyclopedias provide web-based lessons on all subjects along with reference material, question banks & glossaries. This helps develops concepts and make learning enjoyable.

The new scheme of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation has been implemented in class 9th and 10th from the academic session 2009-2010 and the same has been implemented in class 6th to 8th from the session 2010-201 1. A Certificate of school assessment will be issued by the school authorities as per the guidelines given by CBSE.
